Background

Girikon entered a contract with the client to re-configure their Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which included Lightning-enabled Salesforce Non-Profit Cloud.

Girikon was evaluated and selected due to their medium-sized agile team, their cost-effectiveness, and track record of quality delivery outcomes compared to their previous Salesforce Consulting Partner (a large tier-1 consultancy group). Girikon engaged with the client on a detailed technical discovery to understand their business process, and the Architecture implemented by their previous Salesforce Partner.

Girikon determined that successful implementation was needed to achieve a quality outcome. The effectiveness of Girikon’s onshore/offshore model and positive management by senior stakeholders helped gain the client’s confidence in inviting Girikon to kick off the Salesforce Implementation project within an ambitious timeline (4 to 6 weeks).

About the client

The client is a non-profit organisation, which is on a mission to improve the physical and mental health of young males through their Mentoring Programs. The programs, lasting from 3 to 6 months, are designed to help young boys increase their resilience, empathy, and self-respect, which in turn will reduce the rates of suicides, mental health issues, and antisocial and risk-taking behaviours. These group Mentoring Programs are delivered by qualified and experienced youth workers. The client reached out to Girikon, a reputed Salesforce Consulting Partner, to review their current business processes and practices, and provide support utilising the Salesforce Sales cloud Non-profit Pack (NPSP).

The Problem

The client’s pain points were identified in the following areas:

  • Establishing a link between Schools and Grants
  • Reporting Gaps to track the targets on a yearly or monthly basis
  • Establishing a link between Grants and Program/Service
  • Tracking Fund Expenditure
  • Tracking how the grants have been spent in comparison with targeted spending
The solution

After discovering the client’s pain points, Girikon provided and implemented the following solutions:

Salesforce Setup and Implementation:

  • Salesforce Sales Cloud Non-profit Success Pack (NPSP).
  • Four Opportunity types, namely Initial Offering, Grant, Services/Schools, and Donation:
    • Initial offering: when the record was created from program enrolment
    • Grant: when funds were obtained from funders
    • Services: when a service was enrolled/Schools: when any school was enrolled
    • Donation: a record type on which some reports were created.
    • Four Opportunity types

  • General Accounting Unit: a managed package (custom object) by NSPS, which contained the funders’ total budget, utilised funds, and available funds.
  • Program Enrolment Custom Page containing the following fields:
    • Regions
    • Program types
    • Services/Schools
    • Number of programs
    • Initial funding from schools
    • Total costs
  • Reports and Dashboards

All Dashboards are available on the Home Tab, including:

    • Secured Count Dashboard, which displays the achieved target according to the financial quarter and close date.
    • Target Dashboard, on which the client can set the target for Donation, Fee, and Grants.
The Outcome

The client had a list of changes they wanted to implement along with the integration. However, after Girikon reviewed their Salesforce Non-profit Cloud, the recommendation was to re-configure Salesforce using the Non-Profit Success Pack to enable the client to use standard Salesforce features, functions, and processes. Girikon delivered the re-configuration of Salesforce, enabling the client’s team to use Salesforce consistently aligned to their business processes using Salesforce standard processes.
